Net8 Administrator's Guide Release 8.1.5 A67440-01 |
|
This appendix provides sample configuration files used in Net8. These files include:
A profile (SQLNET.ORA) contains the parameters that specify preferences for how a client or server uses Net8 features. SQLNET.ORA is located in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
on UNIX and ORACLE_HOME
\network\admin
on Windows platforms. For more information about each individual parameter, see "Profile Parameters (SQLNET.ORA)".

The local naming configuration file (TNSNAMES.ORA) contains service aliases. The service aliases of databases are mapped to connect descriptors that describe their location on the network. The TNSNAMES.ORA is used by clients and distributed database servers to identify destinations and servers. TNSNAMES.ORA is located in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
on UNIX and ORACLE_HOME
\network\admin
on Windows platforms. For more information on each individual parameter, see "Local Naming Parameters (TNSNAMES.ORA)".

For more complex samples, see"Local Naming Parameters (TNSNAMES.ORA)".
The listener configuration file (LISTENER.ORA) contains the parameters that specify preferences for how a network listener behaves. LISTENER.ORA is located in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
on UNIX and ORACLE_HOME
\network\admin
on Windows NT. For more information on each individual parameter, see "Listener Parameters (LISTENER.ORA)".

The Oracle Names server configuration file (NAMES.ORA) contains the parameters that specify the location, domain information, and optional configuration parameters for each Oracle Names server. NAMES.ORA is located in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
on UNIX and ORACLE_HOME
\network\admin
on Windows NT. For more information on each individual parameter, see "Oracle Names Parameters (NAMES.ORA)".

The Connection Manager configuration file (CMAN.ORA) contains the parameters that specify preferences for using Oracle Connection Manager. CMAN.ORA is located at $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin on UNIX and ORACLE_HOME\network\admin on Windows NT. For more information on each individual parameter, see "Oracle Connection Manager Parameters (CMAN.ORA)"
