Introducing Oracle8 Client

This chapter lists the products available for installation from Oracle8 Client for Windows NT and Windows 95.

What Products are Available for Installation?

When you run Oracle Installer, a dialog box displays several product installation options. When you select an option for installation, a group of products are automatically installed. The options that are displayed depend upon the operating system you are using.

The tables below list the products available with the Oracle8 Client option. If you want to selectively install products from a list of all products available for your operating system use the Custom Installation option. See Chapter 2 of Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Getting Started for Windows NT for descriptions of each product.

Oracle8 Client Products

When you select the Oracle8 Client option for Windows NT or Windows 95, you are prompted to install either of two suboptions:

• Oracle8 Application User
• Oracle8 Database Administrator

The products automatically installed with each suboption are listed in the table below:

Note: Although the CD-ROM disc in your kit contains many Oracle products, you are only allowed to use those products for which you have purchased licenses.

Note: The client version of Net8 must be the same as the server version of Net8.

Oracle Video Cartridge

Oracle Video Cartridge runs on the video server computer and has these functions:

• stores video files
• establishes connections to video applications running on client PCs
• delivers video to these applications over a network upon request
