This appendix describes how to integrate Pro*C/C++ into a Borland C++ development environment. It includes:

Use the following steps to integrate Pro*C/C++ into the Borland C++ 5.0 environment as a tool:

1. From within Borland C++ 5.0, select Tools from the Options menu. The Tools window appears:

2. Click the New button to the right. The Tool Options window appears. Enter Pro*C/C++ for Name, and PROCUI80.EXE for Path. As an example, have Pro*C/C++ load SAMPLE.PRE by entering SAMPLE.PRE for Command Line. For Menu Text, enter &PRO*C/C++. The ampersand (&) provides an accelerator key for Pro*C/C++.

Note:

For this example and for all samples that are provided with Pro*C/C++ to work properly, %ORACLE_HOME% must be in your PATH. Also, it is not necessary to provide the location of SAMPLE.PRE because it resides in the same directory as SAMPLE.IDE.

3. Click OK inside the Tool Options dialog box.

4. Click Close inside the Tools dialog box. Pro*C/C++ should now be available as one of the tools under the Tool menu.

5. Click Pro*C/C++ to start it. To start Pro*C/C++ by using accelerator keys, press T while holding down the Alt key for the Tool menu. With the Alt key still depressed, press P.
