Oracle Networking Products Installation and Setup

This appendix describes the Oracle Networking Products directory structure. Specific topics covered are:

Oracle Networking Products Setup

Before proceeding with Oracle Networking Products configuration, ensure the necessary products have been installed on server and each of the clients.

To verify installation:

1. Start the Oracle Installer:

   From the taskbar, select Start > Programs > Oracle for Windows NT or Windows 95 > Oracle Installer.

   The Software Asset Manager dialog box appears with the currently installed products listed in the list box on the right side of the screen.

2. Verify the following products are in the Products Installed list box in ORACLE_HOME:

   On Your Server	On Your Client
   Net8 Server and Net8 Client	Net8 Client
   Oracle Protocol Adapter(s)	Oracle Protocol Adapter(s)
   Oracle Names Server (optional)	Oracle Net8 Assistant (recommended)
   Oracle Connection Manager (optional)
   Oracle Net8 Assistant (optional)

3. Click Exit to exit the Oracle Installer.

   A dialog box appears, asking you if you want exit the Oracle Installer.

4. Choose Yes.

   Oracle Installer exits.

Oracle Networking Products Installation

This section lists the files installation of Oracle networking products.

Net8 DLLs

The following DLLs are installed in your ORACLE_HOME\BIN subdirectory during installation:

Note:: When you install Net8 Server, you also automatically install Net8 Client.

Oracle Names Server Installation

Executables

If you installed Oracle Names (optional), the following executables are installed in the ORACLE_HOME\BIN directory for Windows NT:

  Note: NAMESCTL80.EXE should also be installed on the client in the same location.

Message File

The NNOUS.MSB message file exists in the ORACLE_HOME\NET80 directory.

Oracle Connection Manager Installation

Executables

The following executables are installed for Connection Manager:

• CMADM80.EXE
• CMCTL80.EXE
• CMGW80.EXE

Oracle Networking Products Directory Structure and File Names

Oracle Installer places all Oracle Networking Products products into subdirectories of ORACLE_HOME.
