Oracle8i Visual Information Retrieval User's Guide and Reference Release 8.1.5 A67293-01 |
|
This guide describes how to use Oracle8i Visual Information Retrieval. This product, based on technology licensed from Virage, Inc., extends the imaging capabilities of Oracle8i interMedia by allowing content-based retrieval of images.
Note: Visual Information Retrieval has undergone an architectural change for release 8.1.5. The ORDVirB and ORDVirF object types have been replaced by ORDVir. The new ORDVir type is based on the ORDImage type in the Oracle8i interMedia product. The old interface and object types (described in Appendix E) have been replaced by the interface described in Chapter 4. The old interface and object types will be removed in a future release. |
Visual Information Retrieval requires Oracle8i Enterprise Edition. Oracle8i and Oracle8i Enterprise Edition have the same basic features. However, several advanced features are available only with the Enterprise Edition, and some of these features are optional.
For information about the differences between Oracle8i and Oracle8i Enterprise Edition and the features and options that are available to you, see Getting to Know Oracle8i.
